• FAFSA & AACTUS

If your child is applying to a 2-year or 4-year college or trade school, then they have to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Colleges and career schools use the FAFSA form to determine how much financial aid you're eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans. Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs should complete the application. Students need a Social Security Number (SSN) to do so. If a student doesn’t have a SSN, then they will need to complete the AACTUS form.  If a parent/guardian doesn’t have a SSN, they are still able to do the FAFSA.

When completing the FAFSA, make sure you use the year your child will be attending college. For example, you will use the 24-25 FAFSA or AACTUS form this year.  Both the student and the parent need to create their own account and make their own separate application. You must apply for aid every year, but with the right information in hand, it's easy.

For any questions or assistance, you can contact the FAFSA help line at 1-800-433-3243. Students can also meet with our College & Career Center to receive help with FAFSA or AACTUS.

The FAFSA Challenge Team will be having a party in May and will be raffling off prizes to seniors who completed either the FAFSA or AACTUS applications! We encourage all college-bound seniors and their parents/guardians to complete an application as soon as possible.
