English as a Second Language
This program provides English language support for students who speak a language other than English as their first language. Multilingual learner students are placed in a mainstream classroom in which the language of instruction is English.
At Wilbur Cross, our 9th Grade Multlilingual Learners and our Multilingual Learners transitioning out of the Sheltered Content Program receive English language support through working with an English as Second Language teacher in a Writing Seminar class. Instruction focuses on English language acquisition and development of the four language domains: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
