• IADAS & Sheltered Content Programming

At Wilbur Cross, Multilingual Learners who are newlly arrived (have been in the country for 30 months or less) are enrolled in the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). In IADAS students are enrolled in Sheltered Content core classes and an ESL class.

Sheltered Content classes are core classes for newly arrived Multilingual Learners in which grade level content is taught using sheltered strategies that support language and content development. The use of these strategies allows Multilingual Learners to access grade level content while providing them with opportunities for language development.

ESL Classes are classes in which instruction focuses on English language acquisition and development of the four language domains: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

In IADAS, Multilingual Learners who have limitted or severly interupted education (SLIFE) can receive further intensive interventions in mathematics and literacy as well as recieve additional support from a tutor.

Outside of the school day there is an afterschool program on Tuesdays and Thursdays to support Multilingual Learners in their academic work and/or language acquisition.
