• 21st Century Competencies and Expectations

WCHS Learning expectations are aligned with New Haven Public Schools 21st Century Learning Competencies. These 6 competencies were developed at the district level. NHPS believes that in order to succeed in the 21st Century, NHPS students will need skills beyond those assessed on state tests. Our students will need problem-solving, critical thinking, presentation, and information skills, as well as awareness of global, national and local issues.

    Governors will….

    • Engage in creative problem solving and critical thinking

    • Access and analyze information from a variety of sources

    • Communicate clearly and effectively

    • Exhibit creativity and innovation in work

    • Demonstrate initiative, self-direction, and accountability

    • Contribute as active and responsible members in the community
