• Community Service Hours

All students who are residents who qualify for New Haven Promise will need to complete a total of 40 hours of community service.

Community service offers social and cognitive benefits for students. It provides practical experience and develops critical skills like leadership, problem-solving, and time management. Volunteering applies classroom learning to real-life scenarios and is a means for community support and personal growth.  It helps build identity, fosters new friendships, and positively impacts society. Engaging in service work is fulfilling and empowering. Students can witness firsthand the results of their hard work, making a genuine difference in the world, one project at a time.

Students are highly encouraged to complete their community service hours in their earliest years of high school and get this requirement out of the way.
